No project can be successful unless it is properly managed, but the type and level of management required will inevitably vary.
The ‘Degrees of Creativity’ 2006 project, for example, needed to highlight the final year creative graduate output from over 30 of London’s Universities over a sustained 8-week period. Pre-planning, good communication and attention to detail were all crucial to its successful delivery. The project culminated in an interactive website supported by a publicity programme and postcard campaign, and attracted record numbers of visitors.
In 2008, I directed the Whitstable Oyster Festival, a 9 day heritage and community festival for Whitstable in Kent. As well as expanding the comtent of the programme by 25% overall I substantially incresead revenues, forged vital partnerships with the local communities, introduced new "showcase events" and greatly improved media coverage: ITV Meridian dedicated a 30 minute programme to the Festival, whilst the BBC used the Festival as a centrepiece of the the opening programe in Coast (2009) and also filmed a new pilot cookery programe within the Festival.
Further back, the National Maritime Museum was one of the few organisations to profit from the millennium, thanks to a five year programme that included brand creation, merchandising deals and events to produce new and regular income streams.
My project management skills are applicable to event management, research, communications and sponsorship projects, commercial tenders, and the delivery of marketing strategies.
